Watego’s Beach (Dam) I HIGHland Reel (IRE) (Sire)
For private syndication – Gaskin & Cornish Racing (echuca, VIC) –
0417 382 368

His mother, Watego’s Beach, won and was placed in her first 2 starts as a 2 year old, both races over 1000 metres! She is a very strong colossus of a mare and so far has produced two Highland Reel colts. Watego’s Beach is by the Champion sire I Am Invincible, who has so far produced 84 individual Stakes winners, with 185 Stakes wins, including 14 Group 1 winners since going to stud in 2010.
I Am Invincible has been so successful since going to stud and so popular with breeders that he now commands the highest stud fee in Australia – $275,000 for one service!
This magnificent colt is by the Irish stallion Highland Reel who raced at top level in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. He raced on 25 occasions for 10 wins and 7 placings (6 Group 1 wins) earning just under $12M in prize money.
He first stood in Australia in 2018 and his young stock are now starting to make their presence felt on the racetrack as quality 3year olds, one of them being High Approach who won a Stakes race at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day last year. He was bred and sold from here by MB Thoroughbreds. I understand that High Approach is so highly thought of that he has already been entered in the Group 1 Australian Derby in Sydney, scheduled for 1 April 2023.
